How It Works

From request to recovery

Getting equipment from One More Step is simple and free. Here is exactly what happens after you reach out.

1

Browse available equipment

Start on our equipment page to see what is in stock right now. The inventory updates as items are donated and given out, so what you see is what we actually have. We regularly carry crutches, wheelchairs, walking boots, splints, braces, knee scooters, and other durable medical equipment.

2

Submit a short request

Click Request on the item you need and fill out the form. We ask for your name, phone, email, delivery address, and the name and contact for your prescribing physician. There is no income documentation and no insurance information required.

About 2 minutes

We verify with your physician

Our team contacts your doctor to confirm the equipment is medically appropriate. Different injuries need different equipment, and the wrong fit can slow recovery or cause harm. This check is about your safety, not about qualifying you.

4

Receive your equipment

Once verified, we coordinate local delivery or pickup anywhere in the greater Seattle and Olympia areas. If you live outside our area, we can often arrange shipping. Every item arrives inspected and cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectant.

How we keep equipment safe

Every item goes through the same process before it reaches anyone.

Inspected on arrival

We check each donation for structural damage, worn parts, and missing pieces. Anything that is not safe to use is responsibly recycled instead of distributed.

Hospital-grade cleaning

Equipment is cleaned and disinfected with hospital-grade products following clinical protocols, under the oversight of Dr. Mandi McKay, a retired physician on our board.

Matched to your needs

Physician verification makes sure the equipment you receive is right for your injury or condition, so it actually helps your recovery.
